UPDATE:
ILLUMIRINGER v1.5 IS COMPLETE
DATE: FEBRUARY 24,
2013
The new pedal is finally DONE! (Mentioned below at the
end) and as you know has been given to Trey Anastasio at
the opening of his musicial "HANDS ON A HARD BODY"!
:) The show was AMAZING, buy your tickets now.
Here are some pics of the hand off to Trey.
The funny part is there wasn't enough time to get a demo
video of his complete. The videos below show some
of the earlier versions created while developing the
final circuit. As with a lot of art... the final
product is nothing like / way cooler than expected...
ladies and gentleman the ILLUMIRINGER VERSION 1.5!
I am working none stop in the lab getting another small
batch of them finished and a proper demo video up ASAP.
Please stay tuned.. make sure to
subscribe to the Dr. Blankenstein YouTube Channel.
There are something like
65 more components needed to complete the ILLUMIRINGER
1.5 than the 1.0.
It has grow two
stomp switches (total of 3) and FOUR KNOBS! A
independent distortion, an expression pedal input (that
can also be used as a TOUCH sensitive controller!) and
two huge LEDs. Hence... new ground is being
broken here... to get there MANY steps were needed.
Thank you everybody for your support... most of all,
thank you Trey for being you and such a HUGE inspiration
to me (and so many other fans). Please stay tuned for
more info.

A Proper demo video of Version 1.5 is on it's way, but
for now... check out this Star Wars themed demo video of
it's close relative V1.4 Enjoy the show!
PROJECT NAME:
ILLUMIRINGER v1.0
DATE:
AUGUST 5, 2012
OBJECTIVE:
To create OUR world's
FIRST MOTION
CONTROLLED RING MODULATOR stomp box effect pedal for
Guitar, Synth or any other external audio producing
device.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
About 6 months ago, Dr.
Blankenstein went on a mission to create OUR WORLD'S (we
can not speak for the gear presently being used in our
solar system and beyond... yet!) very first motion
controlled ring modulator, this was not an easy task to
say the least.
Starting with a simple circuit on a breadboard circuit
he began this long, strange and exciting mission into
the the next level of stomp boxes. That breadboard
design can be seen
HERE
in this short video demonstration. The next
few months were spent experimenting with different
designs and methods for achieving the desired motion
control, each design getting closer and closer to Dr.
Blankenstein's original vision.
Well, here we are months later... and from mind to
matter... we are proud to present to you
ILLUMIRINGER v1.0! Version 1.0 has been kept
stripped down of effect features, with the main focus
put on the motion control techniques and complicated
body / circuitry design. The good doctor is
painstakingly working day and night in his secret NYC
laboratory perfecting the design, and plans to have a
version 1.5 by The World Maker Faire in September.
Unlike version 1.0, the new version is expected to be
chock full of great new features. Designs are
being put together that could include overdrive /
distortion / delay as well as a low-pass / wah wah style
filter... We will have to wait and see what late
September has in store.
